Chameleon Ensemble (AUS)

Since its inception, Chameleon Recordings has built a strong reputation for pushing boundaries not only in the quality of their EP releases and highly sought after events but most importantly their contribution to the Australian electronic music community.
As an exhibition of the brand and everything that is "Chameleon" they are proud to debut the first "Chameleon Ensemble" showcase.

This will be a totally unique live experience brought to you by 4 of the key producers behind the label...... Steve Ward (known for his collab tunes with Carl Cox), Jamie Stevens (know for his band infusion) & Thankyou City (known for their unique brand of techno & cutting edge live shows)!

Inspired by the interplay of a jazz quartet, the Chameleon Ensemble will consist of a one hour live jam session, showcasing not only the signature sounds of each individual Chameleon performer, but the synergies that bind them together as the heart of the Chameleon Recordings sound.

Described as an hyper-energetic expression of his personality that play with tension and atmosphere. Whatever the pigeonholers want to call the various subgenres of techno that he plays, Jamie’s sets are always composed with his trademark sound.

steve1Steve Ward
: Steve Ward is a globally recognised techno / house artist from Melbourne Australia and mastermind behind the techno brand Chameleon Recordings who has been at the forefront of Australia's new revolution of underground dance music for well over a decade.

Throughout his colourful career he has collaborated on projects with many A-list artists the likes of Carl Cox, Dj Pierre, Tim Taylor (Pump Panel), Technasia, Psycatron (Planet e), Peter Horrevorts & Jamie Stevens (infusion / bedrock), not to mention has performed at some of the most forward thinking dance events throughout the southern hemisphere up to crowds of 20,000, all whilst hosting one of the most successful weekly radio shows on Australia's Kiss Fm.

Steve's first full EP, "The Window Between Us and Them", on his label Chameleon, was a global hit and was supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Christian Smith, Sasha and Digweed to name a few, not to mention the title track was licensed to Dave Seaman’s Global Underground Lithuania compilation as the closing tune.

He has remixes alongside Detroit techno dons Robert Hood, Rick Wade, has remixed Chicago legend Paul Johnson + Detroit legend Claude Young and who could forget his remake of DevilFish – Manalive, which skyrocketed into Beatport’s Top techno tunes in 2010 (the same release which relaunched the classic UK techno label "Bush Records")

From a performance perspective, his live shows are nothing short of electric! Utilising his complete control over cutting edge technology fused with his passionate background of traditional instruments, live keys and vocals, a performance which he has cultivated over the past 8 years.

These days Steve has spread his passion in music to the realm of education, by creating the Electronic Music Academy, a revolutionary music school designed to help nurture young artists to achieve their goals in the music industry by utilising practical knowledge delivered by the most popular producers from around the globe.

With a string of releases signed to Christian Smith’s Tronic label and Secret Cinema’s Gem label, a huge amount of music forthcoming on Chameleon, his several nightclub brands, his music academy and his weekly radio show, Steve is by far one of the most hardworking figures of the music scene this side of the equator.

Thankyou City:
are Brent and Scott Mirams, based out of Melbourne, Australia.

Rising from the ashes of popular former trio Continuum, the sibling duo are no strangers to the Australian dance scene, having performed live across the country for many years along with releasing on labels across the globe.

Yet with this fresh project comes a renewed focus, and the pair have wasted no time in leaving their mark on dancefloors across the East Coast, with an explosive live show and innovative and sophisticated sound that touches on all corners of modern dance music and beyond, without ever pigeonholing itself into genre or sub-genre.

Deep, slick and always injected with a healthy amount of wonk, Thankyou City is best described as minimal in all the right places and maximal in all the others, always with an emotive undercurrent and an exciting, unique groove that separates them from the countless names that populate the global techno and house spectrum today.

Finding a key place on the roster of hometown imprint Chameleon Recordings alongside names like Jamie Stevens and Steve Ward, their music has been remixed by international luminaries such as Tom Clark and Fiord, as well as featuring on the Antix – Best Of My Sets compilation on Iboga and on labels such as Scrambled Recordings, Pinksilver Digital, Open Records and Subsonic Music.

A recent live mix was also featured on global online radio powerhouse Proton as a feature show in March 2012, as well as their music supported by some of the biggest in the business including Magda, Christian Smith, Desyn Masiello and Secret Cinema.

Fresh from a massive summer run which included billings on many of Australia’s major festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Shine On, Subsonic Music Festival and Strawberry Fields, the boys are now hard at work in the studio prepping themselves for another string of original releases and their first European summer tour.

If the exhausted, yet ecstatic dancefloors across the country last festival season are anything to go by, it won’t be long until the rest of the world wakes up to what is the most exciting force to emerge from the Australian underground in a long time, too.

Work with artists like Antix/Fiord, Tom Clark, Arnaud Le Texier, Opiuo, Solead, SQL, Steve Ward, Jamie Stevens, Uone, Oblique Industries and more.
